Cellular shades are available in sheer, semi-opaque and opaque styles, in a range of pleat sizes, colors, and shapes.  Opaque shades offer great room-darkening for bedrooms or home entertainment areas, blocking up to 99 percent of outside light.  The semi-opaque shades glow in the sunlight, allowing diffused light to warm your living space. Cell shades are also offered in top-down/bottom up syles so you maintain your privacy without blocking your view.  They can be crafted to fit your arched and specialty windows and skylights.  HunterDouglas makes a beautiful vertical cell shade called a Vertiglide.  Cell shades are very energy efficient, blocking ultra-violet rays and creating a barrier with their pockets of air, keeping cold air out in winter and hot sun out in summer.  They have an extremely small footprint, and nearly disappear when raised.  A variety of lifting systems are available, including traditional cords, continuous cords and a new racheting cord which does not lenghten when you raise the shade.  Cell shades are also available in cordless and motorized styles.  High windows are especially well suited to the Powerrise system, so the shades move but you don't have to.  Remote control and hard-wired systems are available.
